It is not tax, financial, accounting or legal advice, and it does not create an accountant–client relationship. Tax depends on individual circumstances; do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of this website without taking advice specific to your situation.

The calculator: basis and limits of the estimate

• Figures are estimates for the 2026/27 tax year using income tax rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the standard personal allowance (£12,570, tapered above £100,000 of profit) and Class 4 National Insurance (6% / 2%).
• Scottish taxpayers: Scottish income tax bands and rates differ, so your result will differ.
• The estimate assumes CIS self-employment is your only income and that CIS deductions were applied to the labour income you enter. It ignores other income (PAYE jobs, rental, dividends), student loan repayments, pension contributions, Child Benefit charges, payments on account, and prior-year adjustments — any of which can change the result materially.
• An estimate is not a guarantee of any refund. Your actual position is established only when a tax return reflecting your true figures is prepared and filed.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Terms for engaged clients are set out separately in our engagement letter, which takes precedence.

We take care to keep content accurate and current (rates are reviewed each tax year), but tax law changes and errors are possible. The site is provided "as is" and we may amend or withdraw content at any time.
